In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Recall/Free Tire Replacement???

took my 2015 G to dealer for oil change on 5/21/2015 with 8,622 miles on odometer. They replaced all 4 Hankooks with 4 new Michelins. No explanation, no charge.

If they did not ask me beforehand, color me PISSED OFF!

Got my "official" email from HMA this morning in response to my inquiry via the contact link on myhyundai.com. It's the very same form letter that others here have posted. Except this one has my name on it and the VIN of my vehicle.
It clearly states, as the others posted have, "Our offer for replacement is available for the next three years through March of 2018." I've printed this email and have put it in the 3-ring binder I keep on the car - just in case I ever need to produce documentation.
I would encourage anyone who decides to wait for a while before accepting the offer described in the tire replacement campaign/recall to do the same thing. A little preparation and a paper trail is never a bad thing.

They owe you another set of tires, if you intended on putting more testing miles on the original tires..

FYI...... There are so many customers that have decided to do the tire recall that I told that the Michelins are on back order. I tried to get my recall done on my care because I do feel vibrations on my back tires

Just took delivery of my 2015 Genesis 3.8 RWD Ultimate last night. Car shows manufacture date of March 2015. After reading so many posts on the tire issues with the Hankook's, I was pleasantly surprised to see my car delivered with Michelin Primacy MXM4 tires already on the car. Not sure if this is the new OEM plan, but at least I won't have to worry about all the issues discussed on this forum with the tires...at least I hope not to have any problems with the Michelin's.

Not to burst your bubble but here’s an entry you might have missed.

I personally found the Hankooks to be the most quite tires I’ve owned so far providing the pressure is correct and there is no alignment problems. I did have the tires replaced as per existing tire campaign replacement. While the new Michelins are good tires they are not as finely attuned to the characteristics of the new Genesis suspension. That said I found them to be a bit nosier and provide a harsher ride. Surely not a ground shaking difference but never the less noticeable.

If the Gennys are now being delivered with the Michelins, it might be a good idea for us with Hankooks to stop by a dealer and take a test drive before making the switch. And be sure the tires have the correct pressure, verified on the instrument screen. Go with a friend and leave your Genesis at home...lol!

I just received the letter about the tires. This is Hyundai's "flagship sports sedan" and they want to flash the computer and drop the top speed from 150 to 130?? WHAT?? 'Sports sedan', huh?
i wonder if BMW or Mercedes would pull a maneuver like that?

I had my tires replaced this past Saturday. I noticed a downgrade in the ride quality but thought I would let it play out over the weekend. On my way to work this morning it was still the same - the best way I can explain it is that every crack in the road was pronounced. So I put the tire pressure monitor screen on, and noticed that the tires were at 39 psi. I know the other tires were right around 33 or 34 psi. I checked the sticker on the drivers door sill area, and that says the tires should be 33. So I went back in and had them adjust down to 35 psi for now. I noticed an improvement right away. Not sure why they would inflate them so high. Does anyone know of a reason why the tires would need to be at 39 psi? I received the Michelins since I have the V6.

meh! i look at the genesis as a luxury car with sporting aspirations. it's no merc amg or bmw m5...and that's just fine with me! :D

over inflation of tires is pretty typical during a routine oil change in my experience...and not with just hyundai service bays. there is no reason to put the psi that much higher than the recommended pressure. it's laziness on the part of the teenager that did it! ;-)

Agree with making sure the tire pressure is correct. After taking initial delivery of my Genesis with the Michelins I thought the ride was very stiff. Checked the tire pressure which was inflated to 51 psi. After lowering down to 34 psi the ride was much improved.

Low profile tires, like the 45 aspect ratio ones on the Genny, have sidewalls that are not as tall as the 60 and 55 series used on some vehicles now and most in years past. These tires provide better handling but have less cushion which makes them ride rougher if over inflated. Tire pressure varies with temperature and all tires will lose pressure over time. I have a very accurate (.2 pounds) tire pressure gauge and a small compressor. I used to check the pressure every 2 weeks and before any road trip. Now, with Hyundai's system that shows the actual pressure in each tire instead of just a low pressure warning light, you can do this with the press of a button. My Genny's system is spot on with my guage.

I like to run 1 pound over recommended pressure in regular driving and 2 pounds over for road trips.

My question is after you reduced the pressure on the Michelins how did the ride compare to the Hankooks. I did find the Hankooks a little noisy on certain surfaces.

I'm concerned about switching from an ultra high performance tire to a touring tire if I'm not getting a ride benefit.
Is the the correct pressure for the Michelins as well as the original tires?

I would say now that the psi is back down to 33/34 the ride is pretty comparable to the Hancooks, however it might be slightly stiffer. It was awful at 39 psi, but now it's fine. I would take the very slight stiffer ride to the extreme flat spotting I was getting.

Getting nervous. Going in for the exchange on Friday. Hope these tires are as good or better than whats on there now. I really don't want a stiff or harsh ride. I already have a history with the 2009 and 2012 MY Genesis..

temperatures got down to 40 a couple nights ago and I instantly noticed the tires on my car were flat spotted! makes me wonder what they'd be like at zero??!!
