Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"
Since you opted to get granular - so will I.
But I’ll never own a Gen II because:
1. Body style. Front clip resembles a Dodge Challenger crossed with a Ford Focus and rear is “Sonata-inspired”
That's a bit of a reach. Same-
badge cars always have influences over each other's design queues. At worst - the G2 has a shortened version of 14 Sonata lights - and that's about it. The 15 Sonata shares almost nothing with the G2. Now - if you want to talk about rear ends that look the same - check out the A4, A5, A6, A8, 3, 5 and 7 series, all same-class lines from Merc, etc.
The front looks more like a cross between an Audi and an Aston than it does the 2 you listed. But that being said - there are a lot of cars that look very similar on the fronts because of the whole hexagon/trapezoid craze that's been going on with the designers lately.
And to just make a final point - the front of the G1 just looks like an old, tired Merc design. Current design trends across the entire industry are that of a more aggressive looking front. As with all things automotive - they cycle. As an example - you might remember another passive-aggressive front end that turned the industry on it's nose...
2.Busy/complicated interior. Placement of controls. I'm a "set-and-forget guy" so constantly fiddling with things that I "shouldn't" have to fiddle with such as heater control is a problem for me.
This doesn't make a lot of sense to me. The controls in this car are about as linearly laid out as you can get. 2 lines of controls, all in a row. Very simple. Very BMW 5 & 7 inspired - vs numerous others that have buttons and controls scattered all over the center stack. There is also the "auto" climate control - which you do indeed set and forget. If you DO need to fiddle with it - it is also the closest control to the steering
wheel - just like on any properly designed automobile.
Safety belt clasp is buried between seat and center console.
While I agree and while it isn't something that the user should have to fix - it can be easily fixed:

Front dash air vent asymmetry ( two different shapes, 3 different orientations)
This I agree with you on. Strangely - they gave the correct orientation of the same vents to the 15 Sonata. :/
3.Outside rear
wheel hop in sport mode (really loud thunk and not a pothole). Exiting wet S-curve 35-40mph.
Hopping a loaded
wheel? Practically impossible in any car - especially at that speed. You hit or strafed something on the roadway or a surface change.
4. SPORT mode needs separate options to choose engine speed & shift points and/or suspension stiffness and/or ride height. Have to upshift after setting because all I wanted was stiffer CDS setting. Just give me a stiffer suspension all the time and I'll figure out how to apply the power.
You would be hard pressed to find this is even a full-on sports car, let alone a touring sedan. This is unrealistic - and unreasonable.
Signature trim package
1.Touch screen is a road hazard.
a.Must have control knob (DIS) or a passenger ☺
b.Have to reach, look and touch 3 things to shut display off at startup (AGREE, SETUP, Display OFF)
c.Display flickers on/off randomly like when radio song or road conditions update
1 - not really... but anything you would need to futz with while driving is on the steering
wheel anyhow. If you need to futz with the GPS - pull over - even if you have the DIS.
a - get the Ultimate then
b - negative. Wait 8 to 10 seconds - it self-acknowledges and then hit the "DISP" button to the right of the cd slot.
c - faulty unit. return to dealer for replacement.
2.No heated rear seats
3.No heated steering
wheel
Get the Ultimate.
2.Doesn’t recognize voice commands like DISPLAY OFF or FULL FRONT DISPLAY OFF
Over 400 voice commands and you find this. First world problems.

Press the button to the right of the CD slot.
3.Proximity-sense side mirrors in auto-mode open and close as I walk past after locking car and cant be controlled with the key-fob when in manual mode.
This is a non-issue. I wont even label this as a first world problem.
4.Ventilation refuses to be put into cabin-recycle mode until warmed up. Seems to happen when I’m behind some diesel-dually in cold-start mode.
There is a reason for this and will result in instantly fogged windows if you did it. Let the car idle a moment when started cold (as you should with any car) and then you will be fine.
1.Rear view camera is very blurry in the morning even after wiping it off. Clears up later.
Camera capsule is cracked. Replace.
Camera flickers off then on again during first few seconds in reverse. Have to stop halfway out of a parking spot. Seems to happen most after warm start and never after cold soak.
Faulty unit. Return to dealer for replacement.
1.Anxiety producing variable speed "smart-sense" wipers should be fixed-rate on an infinitely variable rheostat. Lacking a rheostat option I would want settings permanently set to 3,6,9 & 12 second intervals regardless of vehicle speed or precipitation.
You cannot have smart-sense and controlled interval at the same time on any car. You can do either/or just like on every other car. I don't like how the smart-sense runs either - so I just set the interval.
2.Head unit and dash illumination levels are still on two separate controls.
As it should be. Why on earth would you ever want them together? Splitting them out is one of the best things the industry has ever done. Allows you to keep your gauges bright if you want and your navi less blinding at night.
3.Want ability to completely disable ESC without modding.
Press and hold the ESC button for 3 seconds while watching the dash for 2 messages.
