  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Any high mileage Genesis owners out there??

However, it sucks gas on City driving. Because this darn thing is 5200 Lbs heavy, and it's a v8 4.6

I think you're quoting the gross vehicle weight, which is the vehicle weight plus all passengers and cargo. the curb weight is what you're looking for and it's around 4,100 lbs.

Also I have a 2009 4.6 with 193k miles on it, I picked it up about 6 months ago with ~188k miles. I've brought it up to date on maintenance and fixed a few minor issues but so far it's been a good car. I dont know the full history of the car but I'd guess that I'm atleast the 3rd or 4th owner. I think finding a car that's been maintained well by multiple owners will be better off than finding one that's 1 owner but poorly maintained.

I have a 2012, 3.8 with 241,000. I'm the first owner, overall been a great car and still runs and drives well. Had issue with transmission about 100,000 and it was replaced. Other than the basic maintenance, replaced brakes, battery, etc.,

It has developed some quirks but nothing major, sometimes it will intermittently cut out on highway (I think I've narrowed that down to gas quality), window switches get a little finicky (contact cleaner fixes that issue), but I still trust it and drive it daily. I plan to keep driving it!

I purchased my 2015 Genesis 3.8 Htrac with 175K on the body. I bought it to fix it and bring I back to life. At that time it had a blown head gasket. The dealer replaced the tranny at 130k miles. Asides from that, the car was in excellent condition in and out. I purchased a used engine with only 12K miles, replaced the old one, and now I have a great Genesis at a great price! I did all the work myself and I have to say, I thought it was gonna be a hard job but I did it in a day and half. Very easy car to work on.

As of july 1, 2015, my 2009 V6 genny has 205,200 miles on it. I can't take all the crdit for it though, I bought it from a salesman a few months ago with 201,000 miles. Still rides like new. Other than the ventilated seat barely moving any air, I love it.
I've found that if you run the rpms up once or twice it will start blowing cold air instantly.

2009 4.6 V8. 125 miles owned 1.6 years. Multiple issues with engine running died twice. OBD meter says vacuum leak Po456? 5 days at the2nd Hyundai dealership. They can't find what's wrong. May need new Engine Control Module ECM. major cash $1100 for the module. Radio quit, cd payer doesn't work.
Man, maybe you should sell it while it's still worth something. That sounds like a major headache. I'm the second owner of a 2009 4.6, I purchased it at 112k, I'm at 144k and have only needed to replace the rack and pinion due to the seals going bad from the car sitting for a year before I bought it. I paid 5 grand on the nose and I've put about 3500 into it at this point and I would trust this car to go anywhere, I've taken it to Florida multiple times from Wisconsin, I probably drive it an average of a hundred miles a day and the only thing it seems like it could use would be a new set of spark plugsplugs. It has the softest rumble when idling sometimes and sometimes not which leads me to believe spark plugs. It sucks that your head unit is going out, you might be able to get a cheap one on ebay or a junk yard, they're extremely easy to remove and reinstall atleast.

Mine has 105k. I can feel a rumble at idle too. I might change the spark plugs and have the injectors cleaned/balanced.

My 2013 has the 3.8 and I just rolled over 135,000 miles. I'm a manufacturer's rep and spend a lot of time on the road. Hope to make it another two years and then I plan to retire. I have to say that this is one of the best cars I've ever owned. It's a pleasure to drive and is just as solid as the day I bought it. Just put new brake pads on the front end at 132k miles and they still had life left in them. The only weak spot I have found is the windshield. Just replaced mine for the third time. Apparently a soft glass compound.

From what I've been reading, 200k miles does not seem to be unusual. If I can get that out of it I'll be a happy man. Would like to ride off into retirement with a G90, Equus, or maybe one of those new Palisades/Tellurides.

Skacatz, So funny that you should mention riding off into retirement with a G90 as that is my plan too! I've had a 2011 4.6 since 3/14 and it now has about 160k on it. Coughed up a starter at about 125k and somewhere around 70k the trans started slipping between 1-2. I had the fluid and filter changed (NOT sealed for life) and been running with a very seldom slip from 1-2 on hard acceleration. I hope to make about 175k + mi and in a year or so put the 4.6 out to pasture, buy a 1/2 price 2017 G90 and soon after put myself out to pasture with it.

Curious as to you mileage and how the car is holding up....
I average at the bare minimum 3000 miles a month...will a Gensis hold up to this abuse for several years?

My 2012 has 80,000 on it and just started having irreparable electrical issues and will be bought back. Other than that, I replaced brakes and the driver's seat leather is showing a little wear, but otherwise it was great.

LOL. No automatic transmission really have lifetime fluid, unless you consider lifetime to be when the dealer stop warranting the car.:)

It best to change automatic transmission fluid/filter around every 60k miles for long-term reliability in my opinion. However, if you are dumping the car by 100k miles then it does not matter I suppose.

2012 Genesis 3.8 owner here, mine has 76k miles and I am the second owner. No history of any issues outside of normal maintenance on my whip.

Please could someone post about a genesis with OEM tranny? I'm scared as "/$"/ of my tranny since I joined this forum. Looks like everyone's tranny is blowing up!

As I posted, a couple of posts up, just don't believe the "sealed for life service" My 2011 4.6 with ZF is still kicking at ~160k after a service at I think 80k. I don't know about all transmissions dying prematurely. Remember this is a forum that folks are more likely to report problems rather than success stories.

yeah mine is a 2012 which looks like to be the worst year possible! I only have 40K miles on it and so far it's rock solid!

The 2011 4.6 with the zf transmission is a solid car. Maintenance is the key.

I have an 11 3.8 w 104k miles. I’m the 2nd owner and it still has the original engine and running strong 💪🏽

I can second that.
Yeah, my 2011 w 4.6 at 160k still runs great. Although I've always thought that the recommended oil change, which I think is supposed to be 4-5000 mi is a bit too often, especially when using full synthetic, I've done so for the most part. I probably should have changed brake fluid, rear diff and coolant, but haven't. I've had a 4 V-8s by ford, and Lincoln, all have gone over 200k mi, 3 with original trans. I think most if not all modern cars drive trains should make this mileage provided one changes the oil diligently.

Your automatic transmission is probably still going strong because you(or the previous owner) did service it before the parts wore out. Many people wait until after 100k miles when the transmission parts has already been subjected to old fluid that let the parts wear down to the point that the transmission needs repair before they change the fluid, which is usually too late.

Hence, why I always change my transmission fluid/filter on a used car that has 60k miles or more. I try to keep the parts lubricated before they wear down too much and start slipping.

2009 Genesis 4.6 - 240,000km or 150,000k Miles. Maintenance on time. Everything in the car is original except for fluids, 2 parking sensors, tires, and brake rotors/pads. Bushings are original, struts, etc. Nothing has broken. Only replaced the parking sensors because the paint wore off and they were only $50 CAD each.

From Calgary, Alberta and have been winter driving it in -35oC / -31F and works like a charm.
