I've started looking myself, but am probably not as far along as you are. In your research, what do the X3, GLC, NX, etc seem to lack at a similar price point?
This is all from memory, so expect inaccuracies lol. And these comparisons are largely against the 3.5T Sport Prestige.
The Lexus had a CVT, so I ruled that out right away. It also doesn't have anywhere close to the performance of the GV70; I don't think it has a V6 option at all. (Nor does the Acura RDX.)
The BMW is the closest, honestly, and if I can't find the GV70 that I want, the X3 M40i is my fallback.
The Merc (specifically the GLC AMG 43) starts at $61k and doesn't even have leather. As soon as you add leather, ventilated seats, and heated rear seats, you're at $66+. Add in the digital instrument cluster, the upgraded sound system, the HUD, and the powered, hands-free option for the liftgate (
SERIOUSLY Mercedes?), and you're over 70.
For the Audi, against the 3.5T you're looking at the SQ5, and its Prestige package more or less lines up with the Sport Prestige. Add the warm weather package, and you're at $69.7k.
Do I even need to discuss Porsche?
The Volvo XC60 is pretty comparable. If you get the Inscription trim line with the B6 power train, add the climate and advanced packages, the upgraded sound system, and the power liftgate (
SERIOUSLY Volvo?), you're at pretty much the same price as a Sport Prestige. And I seriously considered the XC60 for some time. I may even still give one a test drive. But the reviews I read highlighted that it's not very engaging to drive, and the ride is harsh. So it's probably my 3rd choice at this point.
Infiniti is a bit of a mess. The QX60 isn't widely available yet, I don't believe, and there's no configurator for it on the
Infiniti site. The QX50 is actually cheaper than the Genesis, but...eww. The interior looks super dated. Also, CVT. Double eww.
The
Cadillac XT4 is nice, but doesn't have a V6 option. Neither does the
Lincoln Corsair. (Also, how many cars does
Lincoln even sell anymore? A dozen a month? Then again, maybe they're not playing the ADM game...)
Anyway, that's where my head is at right now. If there are compact luxury SUVs I've missed, let me know; I'm definitely trying to leave no stone unturned.
