  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Owners: What vehicle did your Genesis replace?

2010 Elantra that I bought and had 10 years. I hope this Genesis is as reliable for as long.

Simple question, what vehicle did your Genesis replace? I'm curious to see how many of you owned a Hyundai prior to purchasing the Genesis. For those of you who are coming from another brand, please specify if this is your first Hyundai vehicle. If not, please list what Hyundai(s) you've owned previously.

Thanks! :)

As for me, the Genesis was a direct replacement for my 2006 Honda Pilot. Since my better half now also drives an SUV, I didn't see the need to have two utility vehicles in our household, plus I missed the luxury of my former car (GS430). When I need to take the dogs somewhere or haul something large/bulky I'll just use our Outlander. ;) The Genesis is my first Hyundai vehicle.

2017 Honda Accord Sport, and I couldn't be happier to get rid of it. Cheap build quality plastic everywhere and the paint job was terrible.

My G90 5.0 Ultimate replaced a 2017 Mazda Miata RF GT.
LOL, mine replaced a Miata as well; a 2016 Club Edition Ceramic Metallic ND! And the Miata replaced a BMW E92 335i I picked up in Munich, and that replaced a classic Mercedes 190E which replaced a Jaguar Mk II...so no real rhyme or reason for me either. I buy what I want. Fortunately I also have 4 other vehicles to choose from when I need an application specific vehicle. (Like a 2016 F250 for snow plowing, a low mileage Saab 9-5 for mpg, etc,)

Came from a Nissan Maxima.

This is my first Hyundai.

Cross shopped cars (CPO only) included Lexus GS350's and Audi A4/S4's, but the Genesis offered much better value. Soon as I test drove it, I knew I wanted it. So far, very happy with it.

I use to have a 2011 genesis 3.8 now in a 2017 g80 and love it.

Pic coming soon

sold my Lexus IS 300. have always had toyota's. this is my first Hyundai ad i hope it proves to be a good experience

My G80 replaced my 16 Accord Touring. That car was nice when brand new, but just after two years it started riding really rough, hard to explain. I actually hated driving it. Loving the G80 so far, love having a V8.

2002 Concorde Limited (100k) - wouldn't have sold it if they hadn't quit making parts for it.

My 2015 Genesis replaced my old 2014 Buick Lacrosse Premium. The Buick was nice and also had the same options as my 2015 Genesis 5.0 Ultimate except for the V8 power and power trunk. However, the Buick was a flex fuel vehicle so I did use E85 which gave it a bit more punch. The Buick even had electronic adaptive suspension which made it handle very good for a large car on stock 20in wheels. If the Buick would have had an V8 or turbo six engine with more power I would still have it.

Here is my old Buick after I installed a white UR racing strut bar on it. I do miss it:(

The interior. The Buick had HUD, blind spot montoring, cooled seats and a customizable digital cluster. Nice car for the money.

Working on replacing an S4

Prior to our 2016 Ultimate we drove a 2007 Toyota Avalon and a 2002 Tacoma 4x4
Traded them both in on our Genesis and never had to look back.

Unfortunately I replaced a 2018 Camaro SS 1LE. Regretting that move. Thought I wanted a more comfortable car, but I miss the sound and fury of the Camaro. Plus, I had way better dealership service believe it or not. White glove treatment for 1LE, ZL1, and Corvette owners.

2009 G37S. Loved that car and had zero issues with it. G70 is way more technology advanced than the Infiniti was. It certainly turns more heads than the Infiniti did. I can only hope my G70 holds up as well as my G37S did.

2014 BMW 335xi with M sport and 6 spd. I wasn't happy with the lack of steering feel, the sloppy suspension, or the creaky plastic interior.
After following the reviews of the G70 for over a year, and threatening to buy one, I decided to take a chance. So far I'm happy with the move. I too just hope it holds up, and that the dealers improve.

2016 BMW 428ix. I loved the way that car looked and drove. I just hated the lack of options. I wanted remote start and a heated steering wheel, among other options. I had a Buick LaCrosse previously to the BMW and that car was loaded. I felt like I took a step down in options when I purchased the BMW and I was never quite happy. Of course the G70 is beautiful, but as I drove it I was all in, then the salesman said it had remote start. Sold! I live in Buffalo, NY and not having remote start absolutely sucks.
