  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Sedan bulb sizes

This is what I did and where from. Had to use the dremel tool to shave about 1/8" from one of the "posts" to get it to fit. After install it looked really good at night (hid color) but during the day it was just something close to a 'dot' of light (as led bulbs do not have good luminosity). The passanger side started to blink so I have removed them till I can re-install and see if it was just a bad connection. For the money I was really hoping for better daytime (DRL) looks and at that price, there are no returns. Good Luck! PS: no pix as I removed them after just 3 days. I travel and won't get to work on it again for a few months!!

Why does the manual and sylvannia list low beam for non HID models as H11b?? Is there a difference? Will H11 work in the 2010 Genesis non-tech package?

BTW,

The H-11 fog bulb will not fit the H-8 socket. PBoys sold me the H-11 instead of the H-8. Tried to install it for 30 mins until I looked at the tabs (wider)

On a related note, does anyone have a specific recommendation for brands of H8's to go with? I'd like a bright, whitish-hued bulb that will last a long while but have no idea what to buy. Just go with stock bulbs from dealership?

Has anyone replaced the back up lights yet? Do you go through the felt lining of the trunk lid to get to them?

Luminics H8 are super white & bright

Has anyone changed out the parking lights in the 2009 4.6? I think they look horrible with the low beam HID. I also took all of the pieces off and the 2 10mm bolts but the headlight assembly appears to be behind the bumper. Any help would be great

I'm pretty sure this has been covered many times in this thread and others, but yes the little wedge bulbs are easy to replace with LED's of your choice of color. Use a needle nose to pull out the bulbs.

Thanks for posting. Do these bulb sizes apply to the 2012 Genesis Sedan as well? Just want to confirm. I want to change out the headlights and the fog lights...they are both yellow bulbs (yuck)...I want to get the white ones. Appreciate any help.

My experience changing the fog lights on a 2012 has been tricky and frustrating. Most aftermarket H8 bulbs fit with the socket in the 6 o'clock position and once rotated clockwise to the locking position the socket ends up in the 8 o'clock position. Due to the curvature shape of the 2012 fog light housing the 8 o'clock which won't allow enough room to plug in the wire harness.
The original factory installed bulbs start with the socket at 2 o'clock and then lock with the socket at 4 o'clock which provides plenty of room to plug in the wire harness.
If anyone has a solution or knows where to buy H8's that align properly please let me know.

take a screwdriver and pry the side closest to the door (if i remember correctly). then you can take a small screwdriver and pop the lens out and remove the bulb.

Going to bump this for HID lighting.

Sylvania says the Lo-Beam HID bulb is a D1S. This seems absolutely absurd. Can someone confirm this?

D2S is typical for HID projectors or even D4S on some of the more obscure models. but D1S is very rare.

Thanks

Low Beam with factory HID :

D1S 4300k. If your looking to have your HID's shine brighter I would suggest replacing them with a D1S 6000k bulb, the light is still white at this rating and is a drastic improvement over the stock 4300k bulbs. Anything past 6000k will change the color to blue or purple depending on the k of brightness. If you have factory installed HID's the bulbs are plug and play (you do not have to replace the stock HID ballast).

For those snap-in plastic housings, I tend to use a wide flat plastic putty knife or a new metal-blade putty knife as it distributes the 'pry' load over a larger area and does not damage anything or break the housing.

Odd, indeed! I purchased Lumenics 880 5150K bulbs for my 2012 3.8 sedan fog light replacement. I found the fit to be perfect, the electrical connector and bulb fit well and the rotated in fine. Procedure took about 10-15 min (including popping out plastic rivets on the cover under the bumper to access the lamp assemblies. Odd. I just reached up in there, unsnapped the electrical connector, twisted the bulb counterclockwise and out it came. I put in the replacement bulb, twisted it clockwise, and it locked in. Appeared to be an OK direct replacement for OEM bulbs.

How close of a match are the Lumenics 880 5150K to the stock HIDs? I don't suppose you have a picture?

So wheres the best place to pick up all these LEDs at once?

Are Can-Bus bulbs necessary?

License plate: 2x 37mm festoon
Courtesy lights (under doors): 194/168
Trunk: 2x 31mm festoon (6418)
Glove box: 31mm festoon (6418)
Vanity mirror: 31mm festoon (6418)

Found them at a few different places but they seem to have a million different configurations and size variations.
