  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Post your custom wheels

On the contrary, I have a lowered WRX. The issue is just that you don't have enough room for suspension travel with your current ride height given your choice of wheel fitment.

Low beams are fine since you have HID optics. It was more referring to the fogs. You cannot run HIDs in them because they glare everywhere and because they reduce your vision in both clear and poor weather.

I have tons of room for suspension travel up front. Ive always had lowered vehicles or bagged so i have much experience setting them up. Plus my car is only lowered a little over an inch from stock which is nothing. Most of the cars on here need to be lowred. You cant throw big wheels on a car and just go, they end up looking like crossovers with all the added height and fender gap

And my fogs definitely dont glare everywhere. I have acura housings in mine which are hid optics. You cant even tell from the pic if it glares and i hope you arent talking about the lens flare from the camera itself.

I ordered these rims today. They should be here in 6 days or so. Tint goes on next week. Wanting to lower her soon. Should I go Spec R springs (should lower it some, right) or go the coil over route? Any suggestions/advice greatly appreciated.

My camber is -1.8 up front and -1.5 out back which the rear is in spec so my front isn't off by much. Although it's not of great concern. Toe is a little more important as far as wear is concerned.

Pic is minuscule. Can you post a different pic or at least provide the brand and model?

Looks good. Adds a sporty look.

Yeah I know but it still makes a difference. I drive a lot for work with the car and highway miles will wear with excessive camber. I'm looking at some 19x10 +25 and 19x9 +22 advans. Just curious because I was hoping to keep reasonable camber settings. If I have to ill roll the fenders out a bit.

Cars looks nice and clean btw. Why did you choose a slightly undersized front tire? Any running issues on the bulging plastic inner plastic guards where the plastics screw hold things together?

So the wheels that I ordered were back ordered. Dealer showed me a different set. Fell in love and went with them. FK Ethos Black/Ball Cut Machined 18X8 5-114.3. Weather has been crazy here lately. When the sun comes out, I'll clean her up and snap better pics.

Very nice!! For the first set......

The set you got ...... well, those black wheels really don't do justice for your car. Sorry, just my 2 cents.

I like the 2nd set. The 1st set was back ordered for who knows how long and I really didn't see anything else that I liked. I think it looks good and will look even better when the tint goes on.

Ive owned many bagged and dropped vehicles with negative camber and ive gotten the same mileage out of my tires as cars ive owned with factory specs. Just need a competent person doing your alignments and keeping an eye on it regularly. Highway miles or stop n go it doesnt matter.,you can have a few degrees of negative camber and still have normal wear. People misunderstand the parts of an alignment. Camber simply makes your contact patch smaller depending on how many degrees neg or pos you are, you wont wear even but you wont necessarily wear faster. Toe on the other hand is like looking down at your feet and angling them inward our out which causes them to "scrub" and causes excessive wear.

I actually went with some pretty big rubber upfront, i have no issues rubbing except for going up driveways at an angle but im rolling and flaring my fenders tomorrow if i dont act lazy

I'm aware of all of this. I have driven lowered sports cars with every suspension component being aftermarket for many years. Also I have many friends in the industry that own alignment machines. The numbers you are at currently aren't terrible but going much past that you do wear out the tires faster doing a lot of highway driving. If you drive a mixed driving and do a fair amount of turning the car rolls over and you wear the tires more evenly.

When I asked about your tires being undersized I ment overall diameter not width. 245/35/20 is smaller then the stock 235/50/18. General rule of thumb when you go up rim size go down one size aspec ratio. You went down two. Which is why I asked if you did it for a rubbing issue.

I was

In regards to tire size, there are a few problems when attempting to stay within spec when staggering with more aggressive offset. What he may have had to do was run with the best available size that stayed within factory load constraints. I do not know him and have not spoken to him regarding the subject; this is speculation.

I am going to be running a very, very close wheel setup to his and am finding that the necessary tire size for my application (stretch vs meat) is not available. In order to stay within 5% of factory, we have to lessen the profile a bit more than ideally wanted. I.E - ideal rear tire for me would be 245/40/20 and front would be 215/45/20. This would keep me well within the acceptable range of spec and give me the performance and look I want.

The problem is that 215/45/20 is not made, at least that I have not been able to locate. I need to check one more tire brand to see. So to keep front and rear with 3% of each other and 5% of stock (for electronics purposes), we need to run a more odd size than we would like...in this case, a lower profile.

His tire specs are right on with what I ran on my Lexus, and there is plenty of tire to protect the wheel. I got excited when I saw that I could potentially run a larger profile (given the rear setup) for more comfort, but was a bit let down given the front sizing. I hope this helped. lol :D

Yeah I was asking because I was ordering wheels and tires at the time and trying to find out some things people ran into. I went more aggressive up front in offset as a gamble and it is fine.

I am currently running 19x9+22 front and 19x10+25 rear. 245/45/19. With this set up both wheels are just at the fender line and look very aggressive. The rear pokes a bit but with the more aggressive stretch the treads still is inside the fenders. No rubbing to speak of in the rear but in the front it looks like under big bumps the outside of the tire barely gets rubbed. I am on stock suspension still so we will see when I lower it.

If I were you I would go up a wheel width and run a proper tire size. I find it looks funny when the tires are obviously undersized in diameter. Also it has the benefits of protecting your rims better.

I agree, but I may not have that luxury. I am running 20x9+20 up front (with the possibility of a 5mm spacer), so I am very concerned with rubbing given I will be 1.5-2" lowered. I PM'd ghicks99 this morning to get his experience with his tire size, so I had a little more info to go on since his setup is very close to mine. Plus, I will be test fitting with 225/35/20's that are already on the rim (but need to be replaced) so I will have a good idea from that as to where I need to go.

I would love to have more meat on the tire, but given the stance, I feel I will need more stretch. I love that the rear fenders are not in need of rolling, and that the front require minimal work. I am looking forward to the end result.

Yes, this is not going to be to everyone's taste, and they may not understand why I am doing this. I love this car (coming from a Lexus 3GS) and think it has great potential. To each their own.

I haven't removed the front liners yet so I'm not sure of clearance issues above the wheels. Sounds to me you may need to remove the liners and roll the fender lips up front alittle more.

Post pictures when you are done. I would have preferred to go with a bigger wheel but I travel many hours for work and needed to keep more tire on the car. Doing 8 hours of pothole dodging then having to work is more the. I want to deal with.

I will certainly look into removing the liner and rolling the fronts a bit more. That's more than likely necessary. I will post some pics up of the 225/35 test fit when we get to that point. You will have a good idea at least, from those.
