  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015/2016 Generation Genesis "Dislikes"

I just got mine, and the thing that really surprised me was the fuel door seems to be about as robust as a piece of damp cardboard. REALLY flimsy compared to my old infiniti

I have only two complaints so far. One is that I do not have a heated steering wheel in a fully optioned out 2015 V8 model. Learned that only 2015 AWD V6 models got a heated steering wheel only after I bought the car, but it is my fault since I assumed that the car had heated steering wheels since it has everything else. LOL, my old 2014 KIA Optima SXL even came with a heated steering wheel.

Second, the back up camera quality. I am still trying to see if my camera is just faulty or the camera is just very low quality.

So far my only two dislikes.

While not HD, the camera is decent. Take a look at one on the dealer lot to compare. You may have a problem.

I may have to check out a similar car to see if the camera is really bad or not. My 2014 KIA Optima SXL had a very crisp rear view image. My Genesis image looks washed out and fuzzy.

A further dislike, and a borderline dangerous aspect involving that pesky park brake , if you engage the park brake with no set belt on, it won't disengage when you select D and press the gas pedal.

Not sure what potential calamity this safety feature will prevent but I sure as **** know what annoyance it
causes to other road users at traffic lights on an up hill when I can't move off.

Wear your set belt at all times I hear you smart Alecs cry, to err is human, [ yes even Genesis drivers ] to forgive divine.

You put the parking brake on at a light? I use the Auto Hold feature? I really like that. Or are you talking about leaving a parking spot?

Only time I ever had the problem was when getting out of the car and then wanting to move it a bit in a parking lot with no belt on.

Yes, I don't use the auto-hold feature much at all to be honest.

I wonder if the auto-hold works on all four wheels or just the rear two ?

I think it is all four. It just holds the pressure on the master cylinder until you hit the gas. Brake light stays on too.

I find the AutoHold to be one of the best features of the car and use it often. Makes it easier on the foot at a long light.

I am not 100% certain ,but i think that the auto hold only operate the rear parking brake motors on the rear wheels. It worked that way on my old 2014 KIA Optima with EPB w/auto hold.

From what I got from the Hyundai service manual the Genesis also have rear parking brake motors as well under the rear rotors that engages/disengages the parking brakes.

From my experience I would say all four. I love auto hold. I just wish I didn’t have to enable every time I start the car. I would prefer it would remember that it was enabled.

Yes remembering the Auto Hold setting would be a great improvement. I agree it is a great feature, I use it all the time. And as an added bonus it automatically sets the parking brake when you put the car in Park and turn off the engine.

I just looked at the manual and yes, it is definitely programmed in to require the seatbelt

To release EPB (Electronic Parking
Brake) automatically:
• Shift lever in P (Park)
With the engine running depress
the brake pedal and shift out of P
(Park) to R (Rear) or D (Drive).
• Shift lever in N (Neutral)
With the engine running depress
the brake pedal and shift out of N
(Neutral) to R (Rear) or D (Drive).
• Satisfy the following conditions
1. Start the engine.
2. Fasten the driver's seat belt.
3. Close the driver's door, engine
hood and trunk.
4. Depress the accelerator pedal
while the shift lever is in D
(Drive) or R (Reverse).

Are the cooled seats on a timer ?

I find they are effective for 4-5 mins then they seem to turn themselves off.

My cooled driver seat did the same thing. It would turn on for a few minutes and then shutoff until I turn off the car; button would not work. It happened because the rubber tube under the seat that runs up the back of the seat to the cushion vents came loose from the blower. I guess the blower has a fail safe that shuts it down for it not to burn itself out when the tubing come loose or is torn.

The seat back is easy to remove. Just pull it straight up and it comes right off. I bet your tubing is loose or torn. My hose was just disconnected. I reconnected it and the seat runs for hours at a time now during my commute.

By "seat back", you mean the whole back on which you rest comes off?

I just removed the hard plastic panel on the rear of the drivers seat. Just push it up and the clips releases.

Here is the seat back and seat cooler hose. Just pull it up. I took mine off in two seconds to take this picture.

The cooling hose is in the center and under the seat. My hose was unattached which caused my cooled seats to not work.

Thanks! The pictures helped!

No problem. A picture usually helps more than trying to explain it in words most of the time.
