  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015/2016 Generation Genesis "Dislikes"

I dislike how the seals on this car seems to cause squeeks, but some silicon grease helps that out pretty good.

Also dislike how the trunk doesn't auto close when I hold the trunk button on the key fob. Roomates santa fe does this but the genesis don't.

That happens on the Ultimate trim I believe.

I can't believe that trunk auto close is only on Ultimate, but more "advanced" features are available in Tech. The packaging of options is very weird. Rear seat and steering wheel heating only on AWDs. I live in Atlanta. But I really appreciated the steering wheel heating on the Leaf. The 360 deg overview is only on European models and not on the North American ones.

I'm sure it makes sense to someone somewhere in Genesis.

The 360 view is available on the 2018 G80 Sport. It was also in the 2018 G90 3.3TT loaner that I got.

One one hand, if you live in snow country you may want AWD and the heated rear seats and steering wheel. OTOH, the Ultimate should be equipped like the Ultimate and have those options.

The 360 view is on newer models and is nice to have.

Unless my fob isn't working right, I swore holding the button down doesn't work on my '15 version of the Ultimate. Holding the button inside the car works, but you have to hold it all the way until it closes.. otherwise it might even stop midway.

What *I* want is auto lock when I walk away and VENTILATED REAR seats too!

I don't think you need to hold the interior button to close it, afaik you just push it for a few seconds and it closes, the key fob is a serious lack of oversight.

I recently took ownership of a 2015 AWD with just Sig option and it is nice but I would have liked to have the jog wheel vs. having just touch screen, was very handy in my 2009 Gen.

Also, I'm noticing more pops and creaks coming from the rear roof (?) area of the car that I can't figure out. Slightly annoying in an otherwise very quiet car.

No auto lock but rear seat adjustment and cooling on the Euro model, there was only one spec availible and it had everything.

The pictures of the removal of the back of the driver seat are a great help, I'll investigate the pipework myself
before taking it back to the dealers to look at under warranty, I don't trust 20 something mechanics
to remove and replace trim and NOT break or damage it.

Got the back off the driver's seat and inspected the cooling apparatus, it all seemed in order.

The cooling seat worked OK today and operated for as long as it was turned on, which was all the
time as Scotland is getting unfeasibly hot weather this week, 90 F and higher.

Nice. (y) IF I was a little crazier, I would beg you to buy all the rear seat cooling components for me from one of your dealers and ship them across the pond!

I dislike that the body undercover has to be completely removed to access the oil filter and drain plug for both the engine and transmission on the 2015 Genesis 5.0. Some models like the 2014 KIA Optima has an access hatch or cover in the body cover for quick easy servicing. I wished this model had the same.

If you just buy that first piece underneath off a 2018 G80 it will have that access panel. When I did the conversion to g80 sport the new tray had the access panel. makes oil filter change a breeze.

I miss having the side door air vents that my 2009 Genesis had. I've had a few passengers ride in my 2015 and comment how nice having the side vents were.

I also liked the cushier feel of the seats in my 2009 vs the very hard seats the 2015 Signature model offers.

The Adaptive Cruise Control could brake a bit earlier, I've had to do a few panic stops because it's not paying close enough attention to stopped traffic. Don't have the cajones to let my car maybe crash if the AEB isn't up to par.

The Parking assist sensors seem to be weak too. Maybe there's a way to calibrate them?
I've had a few instances creeping up to a parking spot curb and it'll turn yellow and then completely stop beeping.... By that time I'm scraping over the top of the curb

Oooooh nasty, you're maybe asking the system to do something it wasn't designed to do, those kerbs are indeed the work of Lucifer. It's apparent these kerbs must disappear below the radar at a certain distance.

I find the opposite with the ACC, I feel it panics a bit too easily and starts the deceleration a bit too early for me.

There are adjustments for distance by hitting the button. I'm not sure what kind of situation you are referring to with stopped traffic. The system is designed to maintain a pre-set distance to the car in front of you. As it slows, you slow. If it slows to a stop you will follow and come to a stop. OTOH, if traffic is stopped for some reason and you approach from a distance, it is going to be a short fast stop from highway speed. That is a case where you have to slow down.

Parking curbs are difficult. The sensor is looking out from the bumper and as you get close the beam would be over a low object. Too low of a sensor would trip an a lot of driveway edges, etc. Its a compromise.

I just read this and laughed.:)

If you place something in the trunk; it would be easier to just press the trunk button on the trunk lid instead if trying to do so on the key fob in my opinion. I usually put the keys in my pocket if i have to load something in the trunk so it would take me longer to pull them out my pocket as opposed to just pressing the easy accessible trunk close button.

The Santa Fe has a taller hatch so it would make sense for some shorter owners to prefer to press the key fob button as opposed to having to jump up to try to press a hatch close button.

Just my opinion, but it makes sense that the Genesis do not have a close trunk button on the key fob. However, it would be more convenient for the Genesis to have that feature for accidental trunk opening from a far.
