  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015/2016 Generation Genesis "Dislikes"

Hyundai pandering to the US market I suppose , the land where 6 trim levels for a model are preferable to 1.

When the 2nd Gen Genesis was launched in Europe it had one trim level, the highest, take it or leave it.

I think I would take it. Not enough on the base.

it's true, in my (in Ukraine) Genesis costs from $ 87,000, and goes only in the maximum configuration.

Hang tough, the one you want will show up.

Thought that may be the answer. Too bad that a luxury car doesn't have this items standard.
They do if you buy the Ultimate. Now, a base model is still a nice car, but I'd rather have a fully decked out Sonata over a base Genesis. The price difference for the Ultimate though, is about $10,000. Not everyone can, or wants to, spend that on transportation.

I'm in no hurry.

I agree with you on the Sonata. Had a 2012 base Sonata for my wife on a 4 year lease. Great car. I think the tech package would work for me though. I'm in no particular hurry. If one comes along at the right price I will consider moving on it.

Have you checked Auto Trader to see what's available within a 100 mile radius? I had my choice of everything from the Atlanta market, but Jim Ellis is there, and they are a damned big Hyundai dealer.

On Monday I finally got to bring my Genesis home from the dealer. They were correcting some cosmetic issues I wasn't pleased with before purchasing. They loaned me a 2019 Sonata. Was quite nice, but it wasn't loaded. Only thing was that the cloth seats it had were the most awful I've ever sat in. The dealer is about 2 hours away and I made three trips there over the two weeks they were working on the car (long story), each one left me in pain.

We had a 2012 Sonata base great car, but no frills. I was actually considering purchasing a loaded Sonata limited. I may still do that if I can't find a Genesis that has what I want in it at the right price.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I have tried them. I've been looking on all of the sites such as, Carmax and Carvanna, etc. As I said, no real hurry. We Also have two fairly good sized Genesis dealers here in the Ft. Myers/ Naples Florida area that I check from time to time.

Everybody want to talk about it being a luxury car until it comes to price. Then they don’t want to pay luxury car prices. It’s got to be a compromise.
I never suggested that I wouldn't pay a luxury car price, but we are talking about a 4, soon to 5 year old model car.

Also consider the Hyundai Azera if you can find one. The last model year was 2017, but it was a near luxury car with lots of options that was slotted between the Sonata and Genesis. I owned a 2014/15 for two years and really liked it.

I didn't realize that they no longer made them. I may look at that too.
Thanks,
Ted

2 things I dislike 1) Back seats do not fold down allowing longer items 2 go in the trunk.
2) The turning signal light bulbs in the front is the same bulb used for daytime running lights. I have had to change both several times. One is easy, the other is not and I get a $25-$30 labor charge

I hate the Rain Sensing Wipers - never have been able to make them work correctly. Even after repeatedly reading the Owner's Manual!

What are they doing or not doing? I'd rate them at about 95% accurate from a mist to torrential downpour. Rare that I adjust anything. Do you have any coatings on the windshield? That can affect how they work as it fools the sensor.

I have the adjustment set about the middle. It will bring them to full speed in heavier rain and not too many wipes in a light mist. I also like that it turns the headlights on when it makes 4 wipes and turns them off if idle.
