2015/2016 Generation Genesis "Dislikes"

Im 6'8" tall and very limited when it comes to buying cars/trucks etc. The 2015 Genesis fits me well and I bought one second hand at a Hyundai dealership recently with 51K on it.
I have a 216KM commute every day and this is what I noticed:
- Lights on AUTO, when using the clicker the lights sometimes go OFF and then back to AUTO which means driving in the dark for a second or so. Dealership has ordered a part to take care of this and is under warranty
- When driving slowly like leaving a parking lot the steering wheel has a quick knock when you steer left or right, which feels like there is no steering for a quick second. Dealership has ordered a part for this as well (under warranty)
- At the moment its cold and wet weather and when I back up and brake the brakes are squealing like a pregnant pig, but new rotors and brake pads so its supposed to be normal.
- Just updated to the newest software as the vehicle still had the original software installed. Lots of improvements including 3D maps, Apple Car Play and better layout of menus.
UPDATE : Hyundai took care of the issues, they replaced the stalk, so no more light issues and they repaired the steering wheel knocking issue all under warranty. Already 16.000km driven in 4 months and no further issues. Really like this car, also the fact that I can gas up regular 87 with no issues.

What are they doing or not doing? I'd rate them at about 95% accurate from a mist to torrential downpour. Rare that I adjust anything. Do you have any coatings on the windshield? That can affect how they work as it fools the sensor.

I have the adjustment set about the middle. It will bring them to full speed in heavier rain and not too many wipes in a light mist. I also like that it turns the headlights on when it makes 4 wipes and turns them off if idle.

I'd agree with you, Ed. Have mine set in the middle and they've been working ideally in the many recent storms we've been having down here.
And thanks, I wasn't even aware of the little nugget about the headlights turning on and off. (y)

I must be missing something in the settings then... No coatings that I'm aware of. Mine seem to work intermittently on "auto", doesn't seem to matter what I have it set on - top, middle or bottom position. Sometimes they work as expected, but most of the time I have to tap for a wipe even when the windshield is thoroughly wet.

The rain sensing wipers work great I find, a little bit too enthusiastic on light drizzle, which we get a lot of in Scotland, but they work when it rains and they stop operating when it don't rain.

You can test the sucker by sprinkling water on the windscreen [ windshield ? ] when the engine is idling and the system on, if they don't operate after a second or two then they are faulty.

Are you adjusting the sensitivity? In the Auto position the will respond to the setting on the knob. Forward, less sensitive, backward, more so. I'm at the middle or one back as my preference.

Whitey is about 15 miles north of me and he sees similar rains. It can come down at 5" per hour for a short time. The other day, it started to rain and I did not realize I never turned my wipers off. Just as I reached to the handle, it made a wipe.

I don't know if yours are working properly, but for most of us, they do well. If you have no luck, ask the dealer to check them out.

I must have the cheapo version of this fine automobile.... the auto wiping is not the best on my car - the windshield can get almost covered and the wipers wont budge, this with the setting 3/4's up. Now sometimes it will work just fine. Intermitant at best.
Also there is no auto headlight switching on my car at all with rain. I have the "Signature" version.

I haven no trouble with the wipers. I don't drive in the rain because my car will get dirty.

But seriously, my auto wipers have (at times) shown they have a mind of their own. Last time I used them they worked flawlessly. Perfect pace with the amount of rain. Sometimes they'll be too fast or too slow, though.

Yes, as Ed attests, these rains lately have been rather intense yet I've not touched the wipers once. They seem to speed up very quickly at times and adjust themselves accordingly.

From all the variations put forth out here, obviously, the sensor detects what's on the windshield in front of it and some of these may not be working up to par. Anything unusual and I'd be having the dealer take a look.

Hey Bourbon, do you put slippers on her when you take her to the grocery store? Lol. ;)

We do love to keep them clean, don't we lol. I had to postpone my paint correction yesterday due to the storms, so now looking at Friday the 9th - can't wait! I feel like a kid waiting to see how good she's gonna look afterward.

I tend to take car care a little overboard. My wife gets a dirty look if she shuts the door too hard (she has a Genesis too...she can slam her doors all she likes). It's gets hand washed every weekend if weather permits. I enjoy doing my own paint correction and have compounded/polished the trunk and hood. It's been so hot lately I'm waiting to do the other panels. I try to make sure the car I'm driving looks as good as it possibly can when it's time to sell or trade. I like keeping things in good shape for the next person to enjoy.

Same here - I have an Ultimate. Doubt the hardware is different though.

Pretty funny, Bourbon. Lmao, love the wife comment! Like you, I find no fault in taking the best care of her. And while I enjoy giving my vehicles a nice thorough detail, this being her first I figured I get a professional to do the initial paint correction.

We all can only hope we purchased ours from those like us.

Yes. I adjust them - mist to high, no difference. Maybe the windshield had been replaced at some point & they failed to recalibrate something....

Something doesn't sound right, skip. I'd be on the dealer to check it out and get working correctly.

My 2015 AWD wipers have same issue. I can be set at full sensitivity and winshield will be nearly impossible to see through due to rain and I have to manually wipe. Other times they come on when I really DON'T need them on. It's totally hit and miss.

Adding to the list is my pano roof. I noticed yesterday that it is once again struggling to close. I had it in shop once 6 months ago for same issue and they claimed it just needed to be lubed. Worked for a few months, now about to the point of not being able to shut.

I noticed mine was a little slow - enough that when it got to the point of trying to push down the deflector it would reverse. I didnt look at it closely but I'm pretty sure I can spray some silicone in there.

I plan to visit dealer vs. self repair since it's under warranty. I don't need them seeing it down the road and saying I mucked it up by spraying some random lubricant on it.

After hearing of this top issue and having just got my 2015, I have decided to just not use it. Gets to hot here in southwest Florida anyway.

The first week I had my car I opened it to see if it worked. It did.

One reason I bought a Genesis is the great climate control. It brings in fresh air and heats or cools it as needed. No reason to put the windows down except to pick up lunch at the drive through every couple of weeks.
